Besides the serious impact on health and wellbeing, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge detrimental impact on various businesses and on the economy. The advertising industry was no exception. In this masterclass, Dilip will discuss the impact of the pandemic on the advertising industry, in particular within the Malaysian context. The session will include brief case studies of ad campaigns that did not go down well with consumers during this period. Finally, Dilip will discuss some recommendations that companies can consider going forward.
Dr Dilip Mutum is Associate Professor of Marketing at Nottingham University Business School, University of Nottingham Malaysia. He is also the Divisional Research Director of the Leadership, Management and Marketing Division in the School. He has worked with various organisations in different capacities, includes a short stint as a Sub-editor with The South Review magazine and as the Communications Officer for the Consumers International - Asia Pacific office. He has also advised organisations on their customer service and digital marketing strategies. Dilip's research interests include digital consumption and sustainable marketing.
