UNMC Signs Partnership Agreement - Bangladesh College Education Development Project

The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC) entered into an agreement to support the transformation of the Bangladesh Higher Education College Sector. The agreement was signed between National University, Bangladesh Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Bangladesh, Bangladesh Open University, National Academy for Educational Management and The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus.

The project, which runs for five years, is designed to train policy makers, leaders and managers; master trainers; college principals, future leaders, and college teachers. The overall aim of the project is to strengthen college leadership and management and teaching quality in a sustainable manner.

The Partnership Agreement was signed by CEO and Provost of UNMC Professor Graham Kendall, on behalf of UNMC, and National University of Bangladesh of National University of Bangladesh Vice Chancellor Prof. Harun-Or-Rashid, Bangladesh Open University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr M A Mannan, Bangladesh Ministry of Education Additional Secretary (University) Mr. Md. Helal Uddin, and Bangladesh National Academy of Educational Management Director General Professor Md. Hamidul Haque on 16 November, 2016.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Bangladesh Minister of Education MP Mr Nurul Islam Nahid, Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia Acting Director General Datin IR Dr Siti Hamisah Tapsir, The University of Nottingham Vice Chancellor Professor Sir David Greenaway, the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Malaysia HE Md. Shahidul Islam and Education Global Practice at World Bank Senior Operations Officer Mr Md. Mokhlesur Rahman.

UNMC CEO and Provost Professor Graham Kendall said : “This initiative enables us to contribute towards the development of the educational landscape in Bangladesh. The support that we are able to offer, including masters level courses, provides an ideal platform for the development of thousands of colleagues in Bangladesh. We are very much looking forward to working on this project and the opportunities that it brings.”

Also present at the ceremony were officials from the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia, Ministry of Education Bangladesh, senior professors from Malaysian universities and other guests.
